Many kids and teenagers might joke about prostitution and talk about rape as if it’s a humorous matter, but there is nothing funny about a child being stripped of her basic human right or having her physical and emotional being perpetually vandalized. People need to know that slavery never disappeared, it just evolved. After hearing about modern-day slavery and doing some further research on the topic, I began to develop an avid interest in the issue and realized that I wanted to do something in my power to help. I wanted others to see and learn about the things I read and witnessed on the harsh realities of sex trafficking. That’s when I truly became interested in spreading awareness and committed to action.
