Dottie Laster began work on human trafficking while earning her Master’s degree at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. She studied arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, France and mediation at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. She next worked for YMCA International where she was appointed an original member of the U. S. Attorney’s Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance, a human trafficking task force often noted as a model for the nation. As a part of this task force, she trained over 5,000 police officers and worked directly with adult and child victims. She was selected by the US Attorney’s Office to be certified by the Department of Justice to train law enforcement and others on trafficking. She is the past Administrator of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force in California and has successfully written for over $6.5 million in grants to combat trafficking and assist victims.
Dottie is a public speaker and her company trains organizations on the issue of human trafficking and provides consulting to businesses, investigators, attorneys and organizations that serve victims of trafficking and prosecute traffickers. She is accredited with the Bernardo Kohler Center to practice immigration law and specializes in serving victims who may qualify for immigration relief under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. She is also the host of TRAFFICKED on Here Women Talk Radio.
