Benjamin Yao – Danielson, CT

I had always known about the presence of human trafficking in the world when I was a young boy. Yet, I did not comprehend the significance of such an existence. It was only a few years ago after viewing a public service announcement featuring Emma Thompson by the UN GIFT organization; I was compelled to take action. As I watched, I felt anger and anguish for the people whose lives will never be the same due to human trafficking. Years later, I still vividly remember the voices of those people in the video. Their suffering has become my suffering, their sorrow has become my sorrow, and their fight for freedom has become my fight for them.
