I first learned about human trafficking while watching a Lifetime movie mini-series “Human Trafficking” and again with the movie “Taken”. My Jack and Jill group developed a partnership with the Frederick Douglas Family Foundation and put on a program “We are NOT for Sale” surrounding the topic of human trafficking and modern-day slavery. I had heard the term “human trafficking” before but never really knew too much about the terrible crime going on right outside my sheltered environment. It frightened me but at the same time I knew this was something other people, children, teens, and even adults needed to know more about. This issue is not covered in school, therefore it can be often over looked. It is time we stand up and inform the people, to end this heinous crime in not only America but in as many countries as possible. I took an oath to be a modern-day abolitionist and to use resources such as FaceBook, Twitter and MySpace to inform the world within seconds of missing persons as well as crimes being perpetuated against these innocent victims. One voice like mine can touch millions!
